Applying as a graduate student

Whether you’re continuing on in academia or using a grad program to further your career, you’re in the right spot. Walk through the application process with us and get the scoop on what you can expect.

Looking to complete a certificate, master's or doctoral program at UM? Awesome you’re in the right place. (Important note, though, if you’re interested in our law school, pharmacy program or physical therapy doctorate program, you’ll want to check out those specific application processes.)

Check your dates and deadlines

Every graduate program at UM has different requirements and deadlines, so make sure you’re looking at the right info for your program before you apply! (Applying as a non-degree seeking graduate? No worries you’ll still use the same application.)

Gather your application materials

As you work on your application, remember that you’ll need to upload any additional materials, like letters of recommendation or letters of intent. And don't forget to request transcripts from your previously colleges be sent to UM.

Ready, set, apply

To get started, fill out and submit the Graduate Program portion of the online application. An email will be sent to you with a link to setup your account and finish your application.
