Let’s start simple: What kind of applicant are you?

First time as a college student? Awesome — you’re in the right place. If you’ve been enrolled concurrently in high school and college, or if you’ve completed fewer than 12 or more college-level credits, you’re still in this group too. You’ll apply for freshman admission.

If you have completed 12 or more GPA or pass credits in college-level courses at another college or university, you'll apply for admission as a transfer student.

If you have completed a bachelor's degree at UM or another university and would like to enroll at Missoula College or Bitterroot College, you will follow the same steps as those applying for freshman admission. 

There Are Two Ways to Apply

Once you are ready to apply to Missoula College or Bitteroot College, you'll select the application option that best fits your needs: 

Apply Montana allows students to apply to multiple colleges in Montana at once. We recommend Montana residents use the Apply Montana application. The application is free for Montana residents.

The Common App is a shared application that allows you to apply to multiple nationwide schools simultaneously. We recommend that students who are planning on applying to multiple schools nationwide use the Common App.

Will I be admitted to Missoula College or Bitterroot College?
To be eligible for admission to Missoula College or Bitterroot College, applicants must have graduated from an accredited high school or passed the HiSET or GED. Students without a high school diploma or equivalency certificate can qualify for admission to Missoula College with an ACT composite score of 19 or an SAT combined score of 1010. Homeschooled students or students at unaccredited high schools without a high school equivalency certificate or qualifying ACT or SAT score may be eligible for admission on a case-by-case basis.
When should I apply?
Missoula College and Bitterroot College evaluate applications on a space-available basis until one week before the term begins. The earlier students submit the completed application and all required documents, the higher their priority in admissions processing and scholarship consideration.

To receive priority consideration, submit your application and all required documents by March 1 if you plan to enroll for fall semester or by Nov. 15 if you plan to enroll in for spring semester. 
Do I need to write an essay for my application?
Good news: No essay is required to submit your application to Missoula College or Bitterroot College.
Do I need letters of recommendation?
Missoula College and Bitterroot College do not require letters of recommendation as a part of your application.
Do I need to take the ACT/SAT?
SAT or ACT scores are not required for general admission if a student can show high school completion or the equivalent. However, students who have taken these tests are encouraged to submit their scores for course placement purposes.
When will I hear if I am admitted to Missoula College or Bitterroot College?
Applications typically take two weeks to process.
